New to Landmark, and want PVP action ASAP?

Quick guide to get into PVP as quickly as you can (with pictures!).

As soon as you enter the game, you'll be standing near a "Portal Spire",

At the portal spire are the base level crafting stations you need to make all the basic stuff to get you started in Landmark.    You will want to find the forge to make the weapons -

At the forge you can make all the weapons.  They are the base weapons and they require no materials.  They're also the only weapons, so don't feel like you need to find/craft better weapons for PvP.  Also, create all 3, as you can freely swap between weapons while you're playing.

Once you're armed for PvP, there are two ways to find Arenas/Battlegrounds

1) /join PvP - to join the PvP channel, as where people are fighting at. Send a friend request to people who sound like fun, and when they accept, you can teleport directly to them from your friend list. Warning: The Teleport to friend has a cool down timer.

2) (longer version) get some basic tools, harvest up the materials to make Portal Shards from Tinker's Workshop. Once you have some (don't make just 1), you can open the Show Case by pressing "B". Then click the "Gallery" tab, and then search for PvP. That will bring up all the PvP arenas. On the far right, click for the detail list, then have it sort by "Likes". Those are all the most "liked" PvP arenas. HAVE FUN. There's no CD using portal shards to teleport to all the arenas, just make sure you have some.

More of journal than blog.

Oh!.. my neglected blog.

So, my first week of streaming didn’t go nearly as well as planned.  That’s sort of the goal of the blog though, to help keep me on track, to allow me to come back and reflect on what I had written previously.

My Monday night SeaGoth run went really well.  Music has always been a very large part of my life.  I have a band tattoo across my back, I’m friends with a couple of ‘rock stars’ (my name for them); part of what got me into streaming was my background being a DJ.   Combining some streaming with some good music is actually pretty important to me.   I want to make sure that I get a good mix of music.

Other than that, I didn’t really do any streaming.   Part of it my schedule was upset because the sound mixer and professional microphone showed up in the mail.  Wed. night I got into ‘game playing’ mood a little later, and missed the opportunity to stream with him on Wed.  Then my Thursday night got canceled.

So yah… I’m looking for 10 hours minimum streaming per week, and I hit 3.  And I didn’t advertise that at all.

Stream more, Tannlin.  Stream more.

Beyond that, I also didn’t do much German practice on Saturday and missed my DuoLingo lesson on Sunday.   And after reminding myself all week about the alternate Sunday night vanguard group, I completely spaced and missed that too.   I’m feeling pretty bad about that too.

Lessons learn- stay focused, manage tasks lists better.

Added tasks - improve graphics for my twitch page, overlay, and make a common theme between it and my blog.

Getting into the swing of things

I have a gaming blog. I should use it!

I'm a scheduler. It's not that I must have every single minute of every day scheduled. I just like the idea of knowing what I'm going to be doing when I get home from work. I've been really trying to refine a routine for what I do when I'm game. It seems like an easier way to manage to hit all the games with all the people I want to spent time with.

My ideal plan is to begin streaming a couple hours every weeknight. My internet provider is planning on doubling my internet bandwidth, I just purchased a new gigabit router, and I'll be ordering some more audio equipment to add some polish to my setup. It should be pretty entertaining.

Depending how you feel about World of Warcraft, you may hate this. I had a friend get in touch with me over the weekend and really start pushing for a guild on a new server with a bunch of people from my old crowd or well... scene. See, I was a member of a fairly large community in Seattle, the "Sea-Goths". These are all friends from like a decade ago, and I guess just like me, they realize that there nights of drinking, smoking, and dancing in basement private clubs to obscure and foreign music... well... some nights is just easier to say in and play some video games.

We got started on the SeaGoth guild, and I'm going to be streaming that for a couple hours on Monday nights. Nothing serious. No heroic raiding or hard core faction grinding, I've told the guild that - It's not about the content, it's about the people. In addition to playing video games with some pretty cool people from my past, the other thing we had in common was the music we listened and danced to while we were out all night together. My monday night stream won't feature me on the microphone or a camera on me, just that same obscure, foreign, and perhaps a bit frightening music. ;)

Tuesday night is the go to Landmark evening to stream. At this very moment, I'm really working on progression (harvesting materials to be able to put down my t3 sawmill, then getting my t3 workbench), so that when they add in the new tiers, I'm ready to rock.

I really love my underground build, and before I scrap my castle on the top-side, I want to get another claim started so that I can experiment with the tools some more. I also think they're going to play around with the lighting a bit more, which should make it a bit easier for me to build. I plan on getting into some hard core building, just waiting for a few things coming on the road-map.

Wednesday night is the night that I've set aside for playing Vanguard with my father, and I'll continue doing that. My family is dealing with my grandfather (not father) having some health issues, so I'm not sure my dad will be available with me tomorrow night. I'm hoping he will be, not just because that means we get to game together, but it means my grandfather is doing well.

Thursday night is my other Vanguard night. I'll be progressing with Amaru from Project Pantheon / Project Norrath, and Strax Gaming, a former writer over at Massively.com and another streamer.

Friday night is, and will always be, a date night with my wife, Caeleste. If we do decide to play a game, I may stream it. But that's a big maybe.

Saturday is something new that I've challenged myself with. I'm currently trying to learn German. I've been doing DuoLingo German lessons for about 3 months now. I try and do a little bit every day. However, I need something more immersive and fun than a book. Not that I don't like reading, but the reading I can do at my level of comprehension isn't fun. And I need something slower than trying to catch TV. MMO seemed like a good addition to DuoLingo.

Spiral Knights is what I decided to go with. I understood a word on the first page! It said FREE! I'll be streaming Saturday during the daytime, in German.

There it is... and if you need the TL;DR version:

Monday - Low level WoW progression with SEAGOTH on Feathermoon-Horde (Starting at 8pm Pacific with Gothic-Industrial music.)
Tuesday - EQ: Landmark, progression and building
Wednesday - Playing video games with my Dad (currently playing Vangaurd)
Thursday - Vanguard progression.
Friday - Date Night with Ever_Cae
Saturday (Daytime) - Spiral Knights in German!
