Help me reach my goal!

Less than two months away, and I’m hoping to get another $80 of pledges to reach my goal of $100.   I came up with an idea of what I think is an interesting way to help me meet that goal.  What I’ve decided to do is allow the first 10 persons willing to donate $10 to the Extra Lives credit will get to choose a game for me to play (and/or play with them).  I’ll list out the games that I have access to, but I’m open to try out any free-to-play game you guys can think of.  Make me click on the cookie game for an hour, or play League of Legends, whatever, I’ll be pretty open.   10 people at $10 puts me right at my goal, I can’t do it without you!

I plan on doing a full 24 hours (minus an hour for dinner with my wife, it is my birthday after all) of gaming! The evening of Nov 2nd happens to occur when we set our clocks back for Day Light Saving’s Time, I should be awake to see 2am twice.   Here’s my tentative time schedule of when I’ve created “Donator Hours”.  Nothing remarkable about it, just donate and tell me what game to play and when to play it!

Star Craft II

A note- All times are Pacific.  I’m starting at 11am Eastern.
Also – I’m doing a special bit of gaming at 10am Pacific – 1pm eastern in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.   Since there is only server and I have a set of high level crafters, it’s easy to put myself out there as a service to the whole community.    My mineralogist, Jharl, has every recipe available to him that I know about.   Anybody who brings me the materials, I’ll make whatever they want with them, one hour and I’ll make anything you want.    Just one item, I’m not doing 20 combines for someone’s house.   I also have all other crafting professions in the mid-30s.  As the date comes closer, I’ll update a list with what all my other crafters can do for you, but at the moment; any mineralogist recipe I can certainly do.

Extra Life Gaming Marathon!

Friends, family, fellow gamers, and followers of Tannlin on the EverCast Show and the EverQuest II Iron Man Challenge-

I'm on a mission to save kids through video games, and I need your help.

My home-town Children's Miracle Network Hospital treats thousands of children each year, regardless of their family's ability to pay.  These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few.

On my birthday, November 2nd, 2013, I'll be doing one of the things I love the most by participating in this huge worldwide celebration of the social impact of gamers like me.

This is a marathon of gaming in which my hope is to game for 24 of the 25 hours going from 8am on the 2nd to 8am on the 3rd.  (Bonus hour from Day Light Savings)

I will be playing Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, doing the EverQuest II Iron Man challenge, competing in World of Warcraft battlegrounds, and popping into some WvW action in GuildWars 2.  I'm working on a way of allowing top donators to pick a game for me to play for an hour or two.

You can watch me play live at www.twitch.tv/Tannlin, or find more details at my gaming blog http://tannlinstake.blogspot.com/

Your donation is tax-deductible and ALL PROCEEDS go to help kids.

I can't do this without your help.  Donating online is safe and easy! To make an online donation please click the "Support This Participant" button on this page.

Thank you for supporting me in caring for our kids!

EverQuest II Iron Man Challenge!

In preparation and generally having something to do until I find out more about EQNext, I've been talked into trying out EverQuest II.

Rather than just do the normal quest grind, I figured I'd would try and challenge myself in the most metal way possible. Yah, I'm starting the EverQuest II IRON MAN Challenge!

Here are the rules, if you've seen them before, it's because they're a pretty close modification of the WoW Iron Man rules.

Rule #1: No deaths. Die and start over.
Rule #2: No Station Cash, no /claim. (*at level 90, I may decide to purchase the Expansion that allows level 95)
Rule #3: No transfer of gear, items, or money from any other character (yours or others).
Rule #4: No add-ons which assist in combat and/or leveling.
Rule #5: No guilds.
Rule #6 No groups or assistance from other characters, even if not grouped.
Rule #7: No dungeons, raids, battleground,
Rule #8: No crafting professions, no harvesting.
Rule #9: Only White or Grey gear. No gear with any stats.
Rule #10: No adornments, no reforging.
Rule #11: No potions, flasks, or elixirs except for required quest items.
Rule #12: No food buffs or other external buffs (including buffs from items and other players).
Rule #13: No potions, flasks, or elixirs except for required quest items.
Rule #14: No AA (Alternative Advancement), Character Traits, Focus Effects, or Training

Allowed:
1. All class abilities, racials, and personal buffs.
2. All mounts, bags, and non-combat pets.
3. All quests, including holiday events and dailies (unless prohibited by some other rule, eg. Fishing and Cooking dailies).

I downloaded the game through Steam, so you should be able to chat with me at [VG] Tannlin, or watch as I stream at twitch.tv/Tannlin.

PS - I've never played EverQuest or EverQuest II before, so this is all new to me.

EverQuest Next

Oh my goodness, over a year has passed since my last post, and for that, I’m eternally sorry.  I’ve already decided to revamp my blog, put all the energy and time into this blog that it deserves.    The focus of the blog is going to be still, where I focus on connecting the players (you) with the game you play!   Originally, I thought I was going to focus on all the different MMOs floating out around there, but then something very odd, intriguing, and in a way, rather amazing happened.

At the recent Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Sony Online Entertainment (that’s SOE), allowed several members of the online media to glimpse their upcoming release of EverQuest Next.   SOE is doing a media blackout on the game until their fan festival (SOE Live) on August 2nd.    The general public has very limited access to any information to the game, but SOE still managed to sneak out enough video to show to several websites at E3, probably under the heavy scrutiny of Non-Disclosure Agreements with some thick , “You can’t tell ANYBODY about this”.

Okay, so can’t tell people what they saw, but they have told people that they did see the game.  They can also tell people about how the felt after seeing it.   Now, two of these websites in particular do an annual list (or so they would like you to believe, I didn’t do enough investigating to see if they actually did a list last year or the year before), and they both awarded Everquest Next as “Best in Show”, as in, the best MMO at the show.    That’s the feeling that MMORPG.com had when they wrote that what they saw “was more than enough to stand head and shoulders above any game we saw at E3.”  And TenTonHammer.com thought what they saw “was hands-down the best game we had the pleasure of seeing during E3 2013.”

It’s really hard not to get a little bit of hype from that sort of reaction from MMO fans that have seen the game.   My MMO gameplay started in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, and while it’s not part of the EverQuest franchise, it has a lot of feel of those games.   Vanguard has always been one of those games that I have found memories of, and I’ve often gone back to that game over the last 7 years that it’s been out.    I can’t lie, and I’m totally hyped about EQNext.    Like the super –critical-epic hype that occurs when I get the sense that there’s a real chance of creating a new genre-smashing game.

Yup, I’m that excited.

I’ve already made my reservations for SOE Live, and I’m working with my boss about how I can get some vacation time to get down there.  I’m going to do my best to provide quick updates when I    They’ve already announced they’ll be streaming the video. I’ll try and keep my blog updated with everything that goes on between their streaming videos.    Over the next few days or week, I’ll be transitioning the blog to a EQNext theme.
can.

Now, all they have to do is give us more information to talk about.  You hear that SOE!
